Mr Fawcett graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1989. Following his house officer year he completed a junior surgical trainee rotation in North West Thames, obtaining his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1993. Mr Fawcett then undertook a period of research at Charing Cross Hospital, studying the influence of microvascular disease on colonic anastomotic healing, publishing a variety of papers on microvascular disease and its causes, culminating in a dissertation for which a Masters degree was awarded by the University of London.

On returning to clinical surgery, he completed his registrar training, rotating through West Middlesex University Hospital, Charing Cross and Chelsea and Westminster, before obtaining his CCST in 2000. He then worked at one of the UK’s foremost hospitals for colorectal disease, St Mark’s, initially as an RSO for six months and then for a little over a year as a locum consultant also covering the Central Middlesex Hospital, before taking up his current Consultant appointment at Kingston Hospital in 2002.
